Make your own Halloween costumes out of reused materials! Local artist Ruby Reilly will help you bring your costume ideas to life with their cardboard cutting tools, art and engineering skills, and a selection of CRC bulk materials. Come with works in progress, a new idea you want to get started on, or a plan to create a prop for your costume!

Actually Crochet It! with Alison Mountford
This drop in workshop is designed to help you finish any crochet kit that you started and need help completing.
If you don't have a kit but want to join in on the fun we will provide a chocolate chip crochet kit or the materials to make amigurumi ghosts. One class, three ways - take your pick!
This class is donation based and intended for adults or teens who are ready to focus on learning crochet techniques.
Hold Together: Opening Reception and Performance for the 2026 CRC Barbara Grandis Artist Residency
We invite you to come see the incredible work of the 5th cohort of the Creative Reuse Center's Barbara Grandis Artist Residency: Alison Mountford, Ellie Williams, Hang Nguyen, Kevin Savoie, Lee Eastman, Mekala Kumar, Orion Oak, Sam Zimmer, Serena Dunlap, and Tasha Battle.
In addition to viewing the art, you will get to see a puppetry performance and hear form the artists.

Cat Key-chain Workshop for Adults
We will be tapping into our creativity to make polymer clay cat key-chains entirely by hand! This fun process includes molding & baking, sanding, & painting with acrylic. Open to all skill levels and you are guaranteed to make a cutie key-chain with secondhand materials that expresses your own personal style. Facilitated by artist Lita Farquhar.

Backpack Cat Charm Workshop for Kids
Get ready for back to school with a one of kind miniature cat backpack charm! Lead by artist Lita who will guide participants in molding a mini cat from clay and once dried you will get to add different trinkets found from recycled materials to create the back pack charm of your dreams!

Knit a Fish Pouch
Turn your scrap yarn into the adorable Rybka pouch! We will learn the pouch structure and fun texture modifications for your fish. We will use scrap yarn available at the CRC but you’re welcome to bring your own scrap yarn to use! Please bring your own knitting needles and stitch markers. The pattern will be provided in class. Beginners are welcome but basic knowledge of knitting or crochet is required.

Scrap Yarn Neck Ties
Have tons of scrap yarn but don't know what to do with it? Learn how to combine colors to knit or crochet them into a one-of-a-kind neck tie! We will experiment with color palettes and make patterns such as stripes and intarsia in our ties. We will use scrap yarn available at the CRC but you’re welcome to bring your own scrap yarn to use! Please bring your own knitting needles or crochet hooks, and stitch markers. Beginners are welcome but basic knowledge of knitting or crochet is required.

Healing Arts for Heavy Hearts
As a community we have been experiencing and/or witnessing catastrophic violence locally, nationally, and globally for generations. Let’s fight against isolation and find solidarity in our shared and separate struggles through the transformative power of slowing down, talking, creating art, and sharing accessible actions.
Our Programs Manager, Victoria Rodriguez, a trauma informed facilitator of equity and justice, will lead us through a heart centered space rooted in the love of people and planet. We will break sessions up by SURVIVORS and WITNESSES. This first session on 3/29 will be for individuals who identify on the spectrum of SURVIVORS of systemic violence. Our NEXT session on 4/11 will be for WITNESSES. See registration form for definitions to help you self select.
This is a pay what you can if you can event. Please register if you are interested in this or future events. The registration form will help identify which session would be best suited for your needs.

Object Exploration Workshop for Kids
Explore and make art with a variety of found objects and upcycled materials. This open- ended workshop gives kids the chance to make mixed-media art out of the everyday items found at the Crc. A time to collage, sculpt, build, color, discover, and play!

Alternative Basketry Weaving Workshop Sunday Option
Learn to weave a small basket from secondhand materials during this three hour course with Elaine Alder. You will learn how to start a basket from the bottom, shape the sides, and finish the top edge of your basket. This course will focus on two strand basket twining using materials such as plastic lace, tulle fabric, paper twist, fabric or leather strips, etc.
No prior basket weaving experience required. Instructor will provide all tools and materials, but if you wish to bring your own materials to incorporate, you are welcome to do so!

Thrift Pop-up with Lived in Thrift
Find affordable and size inclusive vintage and second hand clothing at our pop-up event in the CRC studio with Lived In Thrift. Owner, Liv, started Lived In Thrift in 2025 in order to help combat one of the world's largest contributors to our landfills: the textile industry. Shop small, sustainably, and woman-owned this International Women's Day with both Creative Reuse Center of RI and Lived In Thrift!
Learn to Sew: Make a Patchwork Heart Ornament
SOLD OUT Workshop participants will be taught basic hand sewing and quilting skills and make a patchwork heart ornament they can gift to their Valentine. The event is led by Morgan Whitlow, a quilter based in Providence. Come for a cozy night of crafting and making friends!

Classroom Design for Educators
Calling all educators: Join our Programs Manager Victoria Roriguez in co-designing bulletin boards, interactive activities and other unit-aligned artistic learning tools created from our materials.
You can come with an already developed concept and use the time for a personal consultation on how to materialize your idea OR come to brainstorm and collect the materials you may need.
If you don't need a support that specific you can just come and learn about the ways your class can benefit from the CRC--from field trips to low cost materials. We would be happy to show you around and review our offerings more in depth.
Fits up to 10 educators each time. We will run the third week of each month August through October!
Victoria has over 20 years of classroom and curriculum art design experience this includes working with neurodivergent and multilingual populations!

83% of Halloween costumes use non-recyclable plastic (synthetic materials) – this means they will likely end up polluting our landfills and take hundreds of years to degrade
This year join us in saving money on overpriced, toxic, single use costumes!
Instead make unforgettable memories imagining, designing and creating a costume with your littles for this year's Halloween festivities.
We may not be able to complete a full head to toe look in session one but we promise to get you far along and equipped to finish at home or at our second session on 10/25!
Bring materials from home if you are already working on something. We will have sewing machines available for those able to sew, hot glue guns, leather hole punching and cutting tools plus more.
Already have a costume and want to make accessories to enhance your look? This is the place for that!
